A seasoned attorney with over thirty years of experience in the legal arena, Loretta has been in private practice for the past twenty-one years. Her areas of practice include family law, collaborative law, dispute resolution (mediation), domestic violence, and others. An AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Loretta maintains affiliation with the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association, East King County Bar Association, King County Collaborative Law, National Association of Professional Women, Eastside Legal Assistance Program, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. 

Additionally, Loretta is a Founding member and Co-Chair of Eastside Collaborative Family Law, and has received countless awards and recognition throughout the course of her career. She was recognized with the Washington State Bar Association’s Local Hero Award in 2011, and was selected consecutively as one of the Top Lawyers by Seattle Met Magazine from 2010-2015. Loretta is a 30 year member of a Children’s Hospital Guild and does volunteer work and for various legal associations. She was chosen as Volunteer of the Year through the Eastside Legal Assistance Program. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, golf, tennis, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Loretta Story’s advice to individuals seeking a career in the legal field is as follows: “It takes a great deal of time and energy to become a well-respected attorney by your clients, the Bench and the Bar. It is not just getting clients that makes you a successful attorney, but also giving back to your community and those you serve.” Loretta obtained her J.D. from Washington State Bar Association as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University. 

She also holds a certificate in Social Work from Portland State University. Looking into the future, Loretta would like to continue practicing Collaborative Law and acting as a Family Law Mediator, and to spend more time with her family. She looks forward to watching her grandchildren grow into successful, productive adults, supported by a strong family unit.
