Johanna K. Kenney is recognized by Continental Who’s Who for Excellence in Content Development as a 2017 Pinnacle Professional in the field of Technical Content Development. “Everi games are designed to stop patrons in their tracks by employing exciting concepts, dynamic artwork and thrilling game play,” the company’s website states. “Everi’s Game Systems attract a broad range of players through TournEvent®, the award-winning slot machine tournament experience sweeping the nation, the New York Lottery racino system used at many top-earning U.S. casinos, and the Washington State video lottery terminal system.” Prior to joining the team at Everi, Kenney worked as a technical specialist for Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in the Trainings Support and Process Improvement division, as well as an LMS administrator for the United States Air Force.

One of her most rewarding positions was as a Learning Systems Developer at the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) at Fort Sam Huston, Texas, where she used instructional design methods along with adult learning theories and validated research to find innovative approaches to integrating technology into enlisted military medical education and training. According to Kenney’s biography presented with her online portfolio, her, “Areas of study include medical modeling & simulations, social media and Web 2.0, online communities of practice (CoPs), and serious games. She received her MA in Social Sciences from the University of Colorado at Denver and currently works as a Technical Content Developer. To further her professional development, Kenney is a member of the eLearning Guild and the Society for Applied Learning Technology.

Her advice to those starting out in the industry is to “find something that you love and continually educate yourself.” She states “it is an ever-changing field and you must strive to keep up with developments. You have to enjoy learning and be willing to give that passion to others.” Outside of work, Kenney enjoys spending time with her rescue dog and traveling. She can be found donating her charity to breast cancer organizations and participating in young survivor’s support groups such as the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls.
