John D. Leimert, MD, FAAP

John D. Leimert, MD, FAAP is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as the Chief of Pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Health Services.  

Specializing in Pulmonary medicine, Dr. Leimert has 40 years of experience as a physician.  

Throughout his education and training, Dr. Leimert earned an AB degree in chemistry from Duke University and a MD degree from Tulane School of Medicine. Following this, Dr. Leimert completed his Pediatric residency with one year as Chief Resident at the Yale New Haven School of Medicine and his Fellowship in critical/pulmonary medicine at New Bedford Hospital (MA). After his schooling, Dr. Leimert was recognized as a Board Certified Pediatrician.  

To further his professional development, Dr. Leimert is a Fellow at the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate at the American Board of Pediatrics. Also, Dr. Leimert is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. Giving back to others, Dr. Leimert has made charitable contributions which include: Medical Director at Dartmouth Baby Clinic and YMCA Camp Director. Additionally, Dr. Leimert is a Supporter of Mayhew for underprivileged boys and is a consultant to several local day cares.  

Outside of work, Dr. Leimert is a Black belt in Tang Soo Do and enjoys hiking as well as kayaking.  

Dr. Leimert dedicates this recognition in loving memory of his brother, Joseph Thompson Leimert, MD.
