Sharmeen Sultana, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as a Family Physician at her private practice.
Located in West Midwood, the private practice of Dr. Sultana provides general consultations, follow-ups, flu shots, pap smears for existing patients, and pediatric consultations for children five years or older.
A board-certified physician, Dr. Sultana’s areas of expertise is family and preventative medicine. She recommends regular testing of all patients, including children and the elderly. Some of her services include physicals, immunizations, pap smears, pediatric services, and geriatric medicine. As a polyglot, she can serve patients who speak English, Bengali, Spanish, Russian, and Georgian.
In recognition of academic success, Dr. Sultana attended the University of Goa in India, earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She moved to the United States for post education training, completing a family practice residency at Bronx Lebanon Medical Center. In December of 2003, she was honored as chief resident on account of her leadership skills and support of the fundamental missions of the residency program. She then joined the faculty at the Department of Family Practice at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, later moving to Brooklyn.
Dr. Sultana’s voice is highly venerated in her field. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and Medicine, maintaining affiliations with other organizations such as the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and American Board of Family Practice. An author, she has leveraged her knowledge in multiple academic journals such as the Annals of Internal Medicine. She maintains affiliations with NY Methodist Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
An active member of her community, Dr. Sultana volunteers at various community health fairs and festivals. She is involved with nonprofit organizations such as PEDSI Global Health and Distressed Children and Infants International (DCII).When she is not working or volunteering, she enjoys cooking, listening to music, traveling, and learning about different cultures.
Dr. Sultana dedicates this recognition in loving memory of her father Dr. A.K. Chowdhury, who was a great person and physician.
