Shawnnell Lymous-Batiste, LPC, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Leading Empowering Professional in the field of Mental Health in acknowledgment for her dedication and commitment to the community as President & CEO at Choosing Empowerment, LLC.

As a Masters Level Mental Health Professional, Ms. Lymous-Batiste has accrued nearly two decades of vast knowledge and professional experience serving at-risk youth, developmentally delayed or disabled children and adults, and the mentally ill. She is currently licensed as a Professional Counselor in Louisiana as well as Texas and looking to apply for licensure in four other southern states. Her passion for serving those in need has been demonstrated in her role as President & CEO at Choosing Empowerment, LLC. Since its inception in 2015, the practice is committed to providing mental and emotional health/wellness empowerment to the community through individual and group counseling, coaching, mentoring, skill-building, and resource provision. Ms. Lymous-Batiste is inspired from every successful, empowering black female who is making her dreams become reality. She strives to expand the business, so that it becomes a benignant center of strength, confidence, self-love and enrichment, among the many goals she hopes to accomplish in the near future.

Alongside her role at Choosing Empowerment, LLC, Ms. Lymous-Batiste has formerly served as an independent contractor with several organizations and has been active in many programs that feed the homeless and advocate for mental wellness. Ms. Lymous-Batiste is proud of being a foster/adoptive parent and providing emotional support and sincere care for many children who affectionately call

her “Mom”. She works with children and adults with developmental disorders, offers counseling for disruptive events through EAP programs, and recently worked with clients for Child Protective Services. In 2014, she grew an interest in behavioral health and sought out to obtain ongoing education. She serves members in the community with autism, children in need of play therapy, and families dealing with grief and trauma.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Lymous-Batiste received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University and her Masters of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. She continues to keep up with growing trends and changes in the mental health and wellness field by continuing to educate herself through training and workshops.

To stay up-to-date with the latest developments in her field, Ms. Lymous-Batiste is an active member of the American Counseling Association. She is a notable member of her community and is intentionally listed on many directories that are dedicated to connecting Black and Indigenous People of Color and marginalized communities with therapists who fit their needs. One of those agencies is the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, known for its efforts to help Black people get therapy in the wake of COVID 19. She has also volunteered for The Loft Non-Profit organization, an afterschool and summer program, as an Assistant Director and she currently serves on the board.

A dedicated family woman, Ms. Lymous-Batiste is the mother of seven girls with nine grandchildren. When she is not at work, she truly enjoys spending time with her family and her best friend, singing, dancing, playing games, painting, arts and crafts, cooking and watching movies.

Ms. Lymous-Batiste dedicates this recognition and her success in the loving memory of her mother Cheryl Williams Lymous and to all the people who invested in and supported her thus far.
