As an award-winning orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Quirno has led an outstanding career having accrued six years of vast knowledge and professional experience in his field. He has garnered a laudable reputation for his tenacity and pursuit for excellence. In his current capacity, he is serving patients with RYC Orthopaedics in New York City, whose mission is to provide the highest quality orthopaedic and sports medicine care utilizing an individualized and aggressively conservative approach. Dr. Quinro offers a vast repertoire of expertise in minimally invasive surgery and treats a wide range of conditions including degenerative spinal disorders, cervical spine disorders, spine deformity, and more. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and proficient in Italian and French.
Committed to academics and research, Dr. Quirno is dedicated to teaching other physicians and sharing his breadth of expertise. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health where he teaches minimally invasive surgery. He is the author of multiple chapters on surgery of the spine and editor of orthopaedic journals.
A native of Brazil, Dr. Quirno lived in Sao Paulo until 16 years of age. Upon relocating to Buenos Aires, Argentina with his family, he attended CEMIC Medical School with a merit scholarship and graduated with an Honors Diploma. Later, his pursuit of spinal surgery led him to the US where he met Dr. Thomas Errico, director of the spine surgery division at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, and was invited to join as a research fellow. He completed the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases residency program where he was awarded the Reicher Award for Excellence in Research twice and invited to participate in the prestigious Orthopaedic Basic science research fellowship at the Musculoskeletal Research Center at NYU HJD between his second and third year of residency. Soon thereafter, he completed a spine fellowship at RUSH Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children.
In order to stay up-to-date with the latest orthopedics developments, Dr. Quirno maintains active memberships and affiliations with professional organizations including the North American Spine Society, American Orthopaedics Society, The New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Internal Society Lumbar Spine Surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Quirno enjoys tennis, skiing, golfing.
