Mavis Larue Ward is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Education. Mavis is a retired teacher with the Gary Community School Corporation. The Gary Community School Corporation is committed to the effective engagement of staff, students, parents and community in providing a quality education in a safe and orderly environment. They hold high expectations that all students will be prepared to function successfully as productive, responsible and caring citizens in a diverse, global, technological society.
Upon her retirement from an impressive forty two year teaching career, Mavis taught at Westside High School where she worked to instill a hard work ethic in her students as well as mentoring, teaching, and coaching them.
Moreover, Mavis is proficient in team building, leadership, strategic planning, and is a member of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the National Honor Society. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and is a grandmother of nine.
