Barbara J. O’Connell is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Legal Services. Barbara is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Southwire Company, LLC, one of the largest manufacturers of wire and cable in the world, which is proud to have shareholders who believe in sustainability and giving back to the communities in which it operates.
Ms. O’Connell is a corporate attorney with 23 years of experience, both as in-house counsel and outside counsel, including counseling all sizes of companies — from Fortune 100s to garage startups, and their boards — on a full range of domestic and international matters including: securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property, international expansion, commercial contracts and licenses, litigation, regulatory matters and ERISA and human resources matters. Barbara maintains affiliation with the New York Bar Association, D.C. Bar Association, Yale Law School Alumni Association, Wounded Warrior Project, animal rescue groups and professional mentoring organizations.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, kayaking, and mentoring young professionals. In January 2015, Ms. O’Connell launched a program to provide young female professionals in the greater Atlanta area with senior level mentors. Ms. O’Connell earned her J.D. from Yale Law School, and a BA in Linguistics and Philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
