John D. Guandolo

 John D. Guandolo is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Outstanding Professionals in the field of Consulting. John is the President and Founder of Understanding the Threat. A former Marine and retired FBI agent, John is a seasoned counterterrorism and national security expert with over twenty years of hands on, tactical industry experience. Three years ago, he chose to broaden his focus by branching into the consulting world, where he strives to educate and consult others on federal, state and local levels through threat-focused strategic and operational consultation, advisory, education and training purposes. The author of “Raising a Jihadi Generation,” and co-author of “Shariah — The Threat to America,” John acquired incomparable knowledge through his involvement with the Marines serving in Operations Desert Shield/Storm as an Infantry Platoon Commander in combat. Throughout the course of his military career, John served as a Platoon Commander, Assistant Operations Officer and Airborne and Diving Officer for the 2d Force Reconnaissance Company.

 He also spent time as a military freefall parachutist and combat diver. Following his resignation from the Marines in 1996, John joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he handled an array of narcotics cases on both national and international levels. He then went on to take a position as a FBI liaison for a year investigating threats on government officials and following 9/11, John began his counterterrorism career, gaining insight on terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda and Hamas. Now, over a decade later, John utilizes his strong counterterrorism and national security expertise to advice individuals, groups and government entities across the globe. He is responsible for the creation and implementation of the FBI’s very first counterterrorism training and education program in 2006. The program outlines the essential knowledge regarding the Muslim Brotherhood and their destructive, rapidly growing movement in the US, Islamic Doctrine, as well as the global Islamic Movement.

 

A direct result of his countless accomplishments and efforts with the FBI, John was designated as a “Subject Matter Expert” by FBI Headquarters, and during his employment with the FBI, John received two US Attorney’s awards for Investigative Excellence. Presented with the 2007 “Defender of the Homeland” award by U.S. Senators John Kyl and Joseph Lieberman on behalf of the Center for Security Policy, John maintains affiliation with the Force Recon Association, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a Fellow of both the Claremont Institute Lincoln and the Centennial Institute, and is an esteemed Knight of St. John of the Hospitallers Ecumenical Order (Knights of Malta).
