Dr. Max I. Hamburger, MD, FACP, FACR

Dr. Max I. Hamburger, M.D., FACP, FACR, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Healthcare. Dr. Hamburger is a Rheumatologist at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island. Comprised of a heavily experienced and knowledgeable staff, the team at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island is driven to help Long Islanders with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various rheumatic diseases. In the industry since 1973, Dr. Hamburger has been in practice at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island since 1980. Throughout the years, he has become a seasoned physician specializing in clinical research, internal medicine, rheumatology and medical education as well as patient and managed care services. Board Certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Hamburger currently serves as President of the New York Rheumatology Society and American Society of Clinical Rheumatologists. Recognized as a 2015 Top Doctor, he is Founding Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and Founding Member of the New York State Rheumatology Society. A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Hamburger is a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and on the Honorary Board of Directors of the Long Island Arthritis Foundation.

Additionally, he is extremely involved with the Dorothy and Aaron Hamburger Fund in memory of his parents. The author of over 50 publications, Dr. Hamburger is the recipient of the Regina Quick Award for Medical Excellence as well as recognition by the Arthritis Foundation for his contributions to his community. At the start of his educational career, Dr. Hamburger graduated from Rutgers University (Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude) with his Bachelor’s degree. He then went on to earn his Medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine; followed by both Internship and Residency at Bellevue Hospital Center and Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.
