Barbara Welch, MS, RN

Barbara Welch, M.S., R.N., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Healthcare. She serves as an Emergency Department R.N. and Clinical Informatics Analyst at Fairfield Medical Center. A full service 222-bed, nonprofit, 501(C) 3 hospital, Fairfield Medical Center provides a multitude of general acute health services to over 250,000 residents within Fairfield, Hocking, Perry and Athens counties. Barbara started her profession in nursing nearly thirty years ago, initially beginning her career as a medical assistant and candy striper prior to becoming a Registered Nurse. Now, a nurse for 21 years, Barbara has been part of the team at Fairfield Medical Center for 13 years. She specializes in all facets of nursing in addition to the areas of clinical informatics and emergency care. Priding her success on being passionate about her career, Barbara’s advice to those entering the profession is “be an advocate for your patient, be passionate about the nursing profession and in turn, you will be an excellent asset to the nursing profession.” To keep up with the latest in healthcare, Barbara is a member of the following organizations: the American Nurses Association, the Ohio Nurses Association, the Mid-Ohio District Nurses Association, the Emergency Nurses Association, the American Nursing Informatics Association, the International Association for Forensic Nurses, the International Women’s Leadership Association and the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing. Outside of work, Barbara enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She also donates to charitable organization including the Wounded Warrior Project, and devotes time to her church and various Catholic charities. In looking to the future, Barbara would like to seek a position in management in the years to come.
