LeWanda D. Gipson

Continental Who’s Who recognizes LeWanda D. Gipson as a Pinnacle Professional Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Education and Community Services. Gipson brings expertise in finance, management and strategy to her role as Deputy Director at Matrix Human Services.

According to its website, the nonprofit has “served the Detroit community and surrounding areas for more than 108 years.” It goes on to tell the story of how the “League of Catholic Women led the way in 1906 with a vision and mission to fight poverty,” and “today [the group’s] mission remains the same as [it touches] hearts and changes lives in [the] community.” Matrix Human Services is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation, which “identifies providers that have set high performance standards for themselves and have made a commitment to their constituents to deliver the highest quality services.”

In 2014, Matrix Human Services implemented the Transition to Success Model, which “coordinates care for basic needs, learning to read, getting an education, financial literacy and volunteerism.” The model was implemented in Detroit as well as other Matrix Human Services programs. Gipson earned her Master of Arts degree in Strategic Management from Walsh College and her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Davenport University.

She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Michigan Nonprofit Association Youth Organization, the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Michigan Diversity Council and the National Association of Professional Women, which honored her as a VIP Woman of the Year. When not working, Gipson enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as golf, managing an Amateur Athletic Union basketball team and volunteering at her local church. She dedicates this recognition to her parents, Williette and Lee H. Taylor. For more information, visit www.matrixhumanservices.org.
