Loretta T. Dorn, Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Higher Education.
Located halfway between Denver and Kansas City, FHSU is home to over 13,000 students and offers countless certificate and degreeprograms at the associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s levels within 28 academic departments.

Dr. Dorn is the Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry at Fort Hays State University. An esteemed member of the American Chemical Society and American Institute of Chemists, Dr. Dorn is a seasoned educator specializing in departmental management, organic chemistry, glass blowing, forensic science and student affairs. Priding her success on her passion and love of teaching, Dr. Dorn amasses over thirty years of hands on experience.
Quoting Carl Sagan, “If you wish to bake an apple pie from scratch, you must create the universe”, Dorn is passionate higher education. Recognized by the National Association of Professional Women, Dr. Dorn earned her Ph.D., from Brandeis University following her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with concentration in Biochemistry from Carnegie Mellon University.
