Dr. Christopher Stephen Lange, SB, DPhil., KCOM

Dr. Christopher Stephen Lange, SB, DPhil., KCOM, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medical Research. Dr. Lange is a Professor of Radiation Oncology, Direction Radiation Research, and Professor of Molecular & Cell Biology. As one of the largest colleges of medicine in New York, the SUNY Downstate Medical Center is the only academic medical center combining health education, research, and patient care services to the residents of Brooklyn.

An esteemed scientist, instructor and researcher, Dr. Lange began his biomedical research career in 1962 and has been working for SUNY Downstate for over thirty years. He is currently the Director of Radiation Research and Associate Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program. Presently, his main area of focus lies in his patented hybrid spheroid assay, which measures the sensitivity of individual patient’s cancer stem cells to proposed treatments. In addition, Dr. Lange specializes in assay development, cell biology, cancer research, radiation biology, molecular biology, stem cells and much more.

 

A testament to his success and outstanding extensive research, Dr. Lange holds a US Patent (Methods of Assaying Sensitivity of Cancer Stem Cells to Therapeutic Modalities) which ultimately will allow the individualization of cancer treatment selection for optimal results for each patient. In an effort to further advance his career, Dr. Lange is an affiliate of several organizations which include the American Association for Cancer Research; American Association for the Advancement of Science; Association for Radiation Research; Radiation Research Society; Sigma Xi Board of Directors & Executive Committee and more. Dr. Lange graduated from the University of Oxford with his D.Phil. (Fac. Med. (Radiation Biophysics), following receipt of his S.B. degree in Physics (with a self-constructed major in Biophysics) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
