David P. Gowman, D.O., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the Medical field. Dr. Gowman serves as the Chief of Cardiology and the Director of Cardiology Fellowship at Beaumont Hospital - Farmington Hills Campus. He provides a full spectrum of cardiac care, with a special interest in non-invasive imaging including cardiac CTA, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular imaging. He has worked in his current position since 2007. In addition to his work with patients at Botsford Hospital, Dr. Gowman also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. “My goal is to provide compassionate, individualized medical care,” Dr. Gowman said. “I believe that communication is key, and includes his patients in the decision-making process to make sure each patient has a complete understanding of his or her condition and the interventions implemented.” Additionally, Dr. Gowman is “committed” to treating his patients, and “not just their symptoms and conditions.” It’s been said that he approaches each of his patients with the dedication and compassion of a family member and the knowledge and experience of a leader in cardiac care.
Dr. Gowman graduated with honors from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He went on to earn his Medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moins, Iowa, followed by a residence in cardiology and internal medicine at Botsford Hospital, and completion of echocardiography training at the University of Michigan. Dr. Gowman is also Board certified in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, Vascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Coronary CTA, and Lipidology. To further his professional development, Dr. Gowman is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Vascular Medicine, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
In recognition of his career accomplishments, he was named as a “Top Doc” by Hour Detroit magazine on multiple occasions. Recently, he has successfully passed the board certifications in Clinical Lipidology. Dr. Gowman is married with two children, and dedicates this recognition to his wife of 33 years, Kimberly, as well as to his four children.
