Joan M. Mack, MD

Joan M. Mack, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the Healthcare field. Mercy Philadelphia Hospital is a part of the Mercy Health System. The community healthcare facility helps in providing patients with the quality care that they deserve. Commencing since 1918, “Mercy Philadelphia has provided high-quality, compassionate healthcare services, education and outreach.” Its mission “is carried out by physicians, nurses and clinical experts who treat [patients] as an individual.”

Throughout the course of her educational career and prior to enrolling in medical school, Dr. Mack’s career aspirations led her to dental school. She later earned her Medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine following the completion of both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Long Island University. She completed her Residency at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York; a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at New York University; and a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Connecticut.

 

Dr. Mack is retired from her former role as the Director of Radiology at Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia. She brought a great deal of expertise to the position, in areas including diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, mammography, management and oversight of operations. With 30 total years of experience in the field, Dr. Mack held the role of Director of Radiology beginning in 2007. Dr. Mack’s advice to aspiring physicians is, “Don’t go into medicine for the money. You have to love it to do medicine.” She cites determination as the key to her success as “it is still a man’s world in medicine.” When not working, Dr. Mack enjoys sewing, cross-country skiing, sailing and traveling.
