Alyssa Maria Prohaski is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her work in the field of Behavioral Health. Prohaski serves as a Behavioral Health Consultant at the Black Hawk Gruady Mental Health Center, which specializes in Health and Wellness. “I most enjoy helping others develop their unique strengths, purpose and next steps for success on an individual level,” Prohaski said. “I have also enjoyed the experiences I have had training, guiding and teaching groups in various arenas over a variety of topics.”
Prior to working in her current role, Prohaski served as a social worker at MICAH House, a Mental Health Practitioner at Iowa Western Community College, Administrative Lead at New Alternatives, Inc., Behavioral Services, Case Manager also at New Alternatives, Inc., and as a Social Worker at Olmsted County Community Services. Throughout the course of her education, Prohaski earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa.
As a result of her outstanding work in the field, Prohaski contributed to the 2007 published work Addiction Treatment: A Strengths Perspective, with Katherine van Wormer and Diane Rae Davis. In addition to her work in behavioral health, Prohaski owns a secondary business called YIA YIA Gifts. To further her professional development, Prohaski is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Professional Women.
When not working, she volunteers her time to Invisible Children, Greenpeace, the ASPCA, Wildlife Defense International, Shriners Circas, and sponsors a child named Alexjandra through Child Fund International. Additionally, Prohaski enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
