Debbie M. Barrett-Bryson, MSN-Ed, MHA, RNC-OB, CCE, CCM, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the Healthcare Education and Nursing fields. University of Phoenix is a higher education institution offering a wide range of programs and curriculums to help meet the demanding needs of their students. Barrett-Bryson serves as a full-time Professor at the University of Phoenix as a member of the Nursing faculty.
“After being promoted to this position, it has given me a sense of accomplishment to guide my team to achieve success,” Barrett-Bryson said. In addition to her work at the University of Phoenix, BarrettBryson has also served as a professor of Nursing at Gateway Community college. She has been a part of the nursing field for over 25 years, and worked in a management for more than 15. Additionally, Barrett-Bryson takes great pride in mentoring those who are new to the nursing field. Prior to joining the faculty of the University of Phoenix, Barrett-Bryson served the team at APIPA/United HealthCare as a Manager, as a Charge Nurse at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and is still currently a Regional Manager at Optum/UnitedHealth Group.
“In this role, I developed and implements health service projects, designs project plans, developed new policies and strategies and managed 20 people in nine states,” BarrettBryson said. Throughout the course of her educational career, BarrettBryson earned her Master’s degree in Nursing Education as well as a second Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Hospital and Healthcare Facilities and Administration /Management, also from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a focus in Women’s Health from Franklin University.
To further her professional development, Barrett-Bryson is a member of ANA, AWHONN, the International Women’s Leadership Association, the National Council of State Board of Nursing and the National Association of Professional Women, which honored her as a part of the VIP Woman of the Year Circle. In recognition of her outstanding work, she was named to the Sigma TAU Nursing Honor Society. BarrettBryson credits Winifred Payne as her career mentor. When not working, Barrett-Bryson volunteers her time to the March of Dimes, and serves as a committee member for Arizona Nurse of the Year. She is also a Board Member of the MIHS Refugee Coalition.
