Continental Who’s Who recognizes Sharon Landers as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Healthcare. Landers brings expertise in all aspects of nursing, hospice care and mental health – particularly suicide prevention – to her role as Forensic Registered Nurse at the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institute. Her secondary role is the driving force behind Sharon’s Inspirations, which is a women’s clothing and accessories shop designed especially for cancer survivors. “I am the primary nurse on the chronic unit,” Landers said. “I provide general nursing care and help to make a difference in the lives of my patients, despite their limited intellectual functions, poor hygiene habits, chronic mental health disorders and a wide array of medical problems.
I educate the patients by giving them proper treatment plans and delivering the care needed to improve their health and environment.” Landers cites a number of career accomplishments as a nurse. However, her greatest came in 2014, when she developed and facilitated a hygiene program in the chronic unit. The program was highly recognized and received by OSHA auditors.
With regard to her business, Landers uses her own story as a breast cancer survivor as motivation to inspire other women who are suffering with the disease. “I started with the idea that every woman deserves to feel special,” she said. “Unfortunately, most women, especially those who have faced cancer, know all too well that body changes and life challenges can make finding clothing difficult. Sharon’s Inspirations provides the opportunity to show just how beautiful you are inside and out.”
A portion of the proceeds generated by Sharon’s Inspirations is donated to cancer research organizations. In recognition of all her work, Landers was honored as a VIP Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women. When not working, Landers enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her husband, three sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren. She dedicates this recognition to the loving memory of her cousin, Nancy Heller, as well as her family. For more information, visit www.cor.pa.gov and www.sharonsinspirations.com.
