John Britt

 

John Britt is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the Legal field. Britt’s professional title is Professor at Lee College. His expertise lies in the areas of American History and American Studies. He has spent 40-plus years in the field, first working for four years as a high school history teacher at Robert E. Lee High School. He returned to his alma mater, Lee College, in 1964, and assumed the role of Honors Program Director.

The Honors Program students have received numerous regional and national awards, including the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, and have presented academic research papers at the Texas State Historical Association, the Great Plains Honors Conference and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Britt earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History from Sam Houston State University.

He is also a graduate of Lee High School and is a native of Baytown. To further his professional development, Britt is a member of Texas Community College Teachers Association, the East Texas Historical Association and the Bay Area Heritage Society. In recognition of his outstanding work in the field, Britt was one of five instructors initially selected to teach in Lee College’s Offender Education Program in 1996. He has also won numerous local, regional and national awards, including the Lee College Excellence in Education Award as well as the Texas State Historical Association’s Leadership in Education Award.
