William B. Weist

 

William B. Weist is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a 2017 Attorney of the Year in the Field of Law. Weist is currently employed as a senior partner at the law firm of Dumas, Weist, Mahnesmith & Wright, where he has been practicing law for many years.

The firm’s professional specialties include farm and agriculture law, creditors’ rights, business planning, real estate law, and estate planning. Prior to entering private practice, Weist held positions as a bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis in Missouri, and a Trust Officer at Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville, Kentucky. Now, Weist is admitted to practice before the Indiana State Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

After deciding to pursue law, Weist has served on the Board of Directors of the Fowler State Bank and has held the role of prosecuting attorney for the 76th Judicial Circuit. Additionally, he served in Tokyo, as well as parts of the U.S., during his time as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Weist maintains membership and affiliation with many important organizations in order to further his professional and personal development. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, the National District Attorney’s Association, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Association, where he served as President in 1979, and he is also a fellow of the Indiana Bar Association. Furthermore, he is past president of the Benton County Library Board, and a member of the Columbia Club as well as the Knights of Columbus.

 After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1961, Weist went on to obtain a J.D. from the University of Louisville Law School in 1970. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, and reading.
