Rita Simon

Rita Simon, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who's Who among Educators. Rita is a Professor at American University, located in Washington, D.C.

Rita's primary research interests and areas of concentration in academic work are law and society; the jury system; immigration policies and public opinion; transracial adoption; women and the criminal justice system; women's issues; and Israeli society. Courses that Rita teaches include Survey of Justice and Public Policy, Survey of Law and Society, and the Pro-Seminar in Justice, Law and Society.

Rita has published 67 books and 325 articles about topics encompassed within her areas of interest and concentration. In addition, Rita is the recipient of Guggenheim and Ford Foundation Fellowships. She is the is the former editor of American Sociological Review and Justice Quarterly, and is the current editor of Gender Issues. She is also a member of prestigious professional organizations including the American Sociological Association; American Criminological Association; and Phi Kappa Phi.

Rita received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
