Jane Canter is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Legal Services as a result of her role as Owner and Managing Partner of the Law Office of Jane A. Canter, LLC and over twenty-six years in practice.
In her current position, Jane specializes in Litigation; Legal Research; Family Law; Courts; Civil Litigation;
Commercial Litigation; as well as Social Security, Family, Divorce, Traffic, and Criminal Law. As a result of her dedication and professional contributions to the Legal Profession, Jane is presently an honored member of the Maryland Bar Association, the Maryland Woman’s Bar Association, Maryland Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the Talbot County Bar Association. She was also recognized as a Leading Lawyer for 2009 by What’s Up Eastern Shore Magazine. In addition to her work with her self-owned firm, Jane also participates in pro bono work. She earned a certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding and Dedicated Service to Clients of the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence in April of 2001 due to her service. She continues to serve clients referred by that organization, as well as to those eligible for assistance through Mid Shore Pro Bono, Inc., which matches local attorneys with clients who have civil matters of various types and offers a weekly clinic for those who need preliminary guidance and advice, which Jane has staffed many times. In recognition of the totality of those efforts, the Maryland Women’s Bar Association honored her with the Eastern Shore of Maryland pro bono service award at its annual meeting in May, 2012. Throughout her educational career, Jane earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1986. She also holds a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor from Case Western Reserve University, both awarded in 1982 as a result of her successful participation in a dual- degree program that allowed her to earn both degrees from Case Western in four years time.
