Anne W. Bates

Anne W. Bates is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Non-Profit Management as a result of her role as President and CEO of Marycare, Inc., an organization working to break the vicious cycle of poverty in communities marginalized and isolated because of their ethnic and social economic status. Marycare, Inc. is a different type of Non-Profit organization because there is no paid administrative staff.

Much of the work is done by native leaders who are committed to the company’s mission and to assisting their communities get out of unlivable conditions. Marycare avoids the corruption and governmental  bureaucracies that undermine the good cause of many nonprofit organizations by going directly to the community they are helping. Anne’s passion for helping others began as a child when her father’s home became a refuge for overseas workers whose rights had been violated. His charitable spirit inspired her to a life of faith and service. As she got older, Anne decided to pursue a career that would allow her to use her skills as a humanitarian. She went on to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing, which put a formal title on what was already a quite apparent gift for nurturing. Looking to assist others on a global scale, Anne founded Marycare in 1996 with the help of a group of like-minded individuals who were committed to helping those in need.

Anne currently works hand in hand with the Vice President of Marycare, Father Emmanuel Ihemedu to ensure the coordination of Marycare’s projects in Nigeria. In addition to his dedicated work with Marycare, Father Ihemedu presently serves as the Pastor of Saint Justin and Saint Michael Parishes in Hartford and is the Chaplain at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford.
