Susan K. Thie, CPA

Susan K. Thie, CPA is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever in the field of accounting as a Certified Public Accountant with Nelson & Nelson Certified Public Accountants LLP.  

Established in 1923, Nelson & Nelson CPA’s is South Dakota’s oldest homegrown CPA firm, and at the firm they have been trusted with the Midwest’s accounting services for more than 95 years.  

Ms. Thie began her career working in business alongside her father Kermit Black. She opened her own accounting firm in Mitchell, SD where she worked as a sales/use/excise tax auditor for the state of South Dakota, and then went on to pursue a career in higher education for the next fourteen years of her career. In 2018, Ms. Thie joined Nelson & Nelson firm, where she offers bookkeeping, tax advice, payroll service, retirement planning, tax planning, retirement planning, estate and trust accounting, and tax returns for individuals and businesses.  

Before embarking on her career as an accountant, Ms. Thie earned her bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in 1985 and went on to earn her CPA license in 1998.  

Ms. Thie would like to dedicate this esteemed recognition to her father, Kermit Black CPA and her daughter Erica Bjerrum CPA. Along with her fulfilling work as an accountant, Ms. Thie is also charitable to various organizations such as the Children on Indian Reservations and Volunteers for America.  

When Ms. Thie isn’t working, she enjoys hiking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
