Since its inception in 2010, McHargue and Associates has been offering expert bookkeeping, payroll, planning and preparation, and notary services to the citizens of Iredell County. Mrs. Abernathy began her business as a sole proprietorship providing bookkeeping and tax preparation services. Within a few years, the business garnered enormous success, leading her to establish McHargue and Associates. With over 30 years of experience in her field, Mrs. Abernathy is a Notary Public, Certified Registered Tax Preparer (IRS) and a Certified Pro Advisor® for QuickBooks, both online and desktop. Named VIP Women of the Year Circle and a Member of the National Association of Professional Women, Mrs. Abernathy is a powerhouse in the accounting field. She is commonly regarded as the premier tax accountant in her area and is an esteemed member of the financial community.

Mrs. Abernathy attended Kennedy Western University, earning a Master of Science in Business Administration. She has also received a certificate in accounting. Mrs. Abernathy is a member of the Statesville Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in the Statesville community. She additionally is a member of the American Association of Notaries, National Association of Professional Women, Local Chamber of Commerce, and Kidney Foundation. Additionally, she is an active participant in breast cancer awareness events.

In her free time, Mrs. Abernathy enjoys reading, boating, playing water sports, and partaking in church activities.
