His drive and determination to help others succeed is derived from years of experience in change management and leadership development for one of

America’s most recognized companies. From a modest beginning during the civil rights era which saw him become one of the first African Americans to integrate the Baltimore, MD public school system at the age of six, Heath rose to a lead lobbyist and Human Resources executive at a Fortune 10 corporation. He was an outside plant technician for AT&T during the early 1980’s when he was quickly recognized for his leadership ability and effectiveness as a change agent. He was elected chief union steward for the

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where he represented more than 400 union workers in contract negotiations. Heath’s thorough understanding of the contract and the pending deregulation of the telecommunication industry in the United States motivated management to promote him to a corporate staff position. His first assignment was to coach more than 10,000 union employees in order to prepare them for what would be historic changes in the industry, the break up of what was the last regulated monopoly in the United States, the Bell system. During his 28 year career in the telecommunication

industry, Heath pioneered several industry milestones including creating the template for high speed communication installations, standardizing industry call centers as an International Standards Organization, (ISO) Auditor, modernizing personnel standards and serving as executive coach to a CEO as he presided over the largest merger in telecommunications industry history. It was Heath’s skill as a change agent and executive coach that propelled him to the executive board room. Heath served as executive coach to two CEOs and 28 senior executives in addition to dozens of AT&T middle managers. Heath later served as lead lobbyist for AT&T and was responsible for getting support for legislation that would provide telecommunications companies the ability to compete against cable television providers. Following his retirement from AT&T, Heath launched DJH & Associates Consulting, a training and development company. Using his wealth of knowledge and experience Heath has coached and trained thousands of professionals, who were seeking to achieve life altering goals. DJH & Associates Consulting uses a unique delivery methodology that is based on spaced repetition. Studies show that human beings learn best by being exposed to material over a period of time as opposed to a single exposure.

Heath, an accomplished public speaker and facilitator, received his life coach certification from the Jim Bolt Academy in San Diego, CA, facilitation certification from Resource Associates Corporation in Reading, PA, and his human resources certification from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Heath earned a Master’s Degree in Communication Science from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

As an affiliate of Resource Associates Corporation, DJH & Associates has access to the latest tools and techniques in the human development industry. “Leadership development is a sacred trust. Heath is a dedicated community volunteer and has served on several boards and commissions including the Alamo Work Source Board, Alamo Community College District Oversight Board, City of San Antonio Police Chief Search Committee, Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce (immediate past Chairman of the Board), and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
