Continental Who’s Who honors Arthur W. Buswell, M.D., as a Legacy Member in the Medical field. Dr. Buswell, now deceased, was a Retired Professor, Physician and Surgeon at Baylor University, with expertise in patient care, medicine and surgery. He began his professional life in the U.S. Army and retired from the armed forces with the rank of colonel. Dr. Buswell then went on to pursue his career as a physician, which ran for 63 years until his retirement in 2013. In addition to his work in his practice and in education, Dr. Buswell published articles in several medical and technology journals. Dr. Buswell earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and his Medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also held an Associate of Arts in Medicine that he earned while serving in the U.S. Army, and an additional postgraduate degree from the University of California. In recognition of his outstanding work both in the armed forces and throughout his career, Dr. Buswell earned the following honors and awards: Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Soldier’s Medal; Bronze Star Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster; Meritorious Service Medal; Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Gallantry Cross with Palm; Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class; named to Kingfisher High School Hall of Fame; and earned the 1988 Citizen of the Year Award by the City of Kingfisher. Additionally, Dr. Buswell has been named to Who’s Who in America; Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare; Who’s Who in Science and Engineering; Who’s Who in the South and Southwest; Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World. Even through his golden years, Dr. Buswell still maintained memberships with many prestigious organizations. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health, and a member of ; the American Medical Association; the Oklahoma State Medical Association; the Kingfisher County Medical Society; the Society of Federal Health Professionals; the Army Aviation Medicine Association and the Aerospace Medical Association. He also volunteered his time to the Kingfisher Library Board Friends of Libraries and the Chrisholm Trail Museum.
