Dr. Colette Susan Haywood MD, BSc, FAAFP, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the industry of Healthcare for her role as a Director of Adult Medicine and Adult Medicine Physician at the Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida.

Possessing elite expertise in managing quality, administration, compliance, updating clinical guidelines and delivering Primary Medical Care, Dr. Haywood has over 30 years of experience in Healthcare. As the current Director of Adult Medicine, Dr. Haywood is responsible for spearheading many new innovative practices to be utilized in the Adult Medicine Department. As an Adult Medicine Physician, Dr. Haywood takes pride in her ability to offer compassionate treatment and approaches every case collaboratively, valuing a close patient-physician relationship.

Dr. Haywood began her career at St. George’s University School of Medicine, earning a Bachelor of Science. She then went on to obtain her Medical Doctor Degree at this same institution in 2008. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at JFK Medical Center in New Jersey. Additionally, Dr. Haywood completed training in Midwifery and as a Registered Nurse.

To further her professional development, Dr. Haywood is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. She also donates to the following charitable organizations, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

In honor of her outstanding contributions to the medical field, Dr. Haywood has been recognized with the Degree of Fellow by the American Academy of Family Physicians, Leader in Medicine by the American Health Council, the Physicians’ Recognition Award on Continuing Medical Education by the American Medical Association and was also awarded the Firestarter Award by the Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida.

When Dr. Haywood isn’t practicing medicine, she enjoys gardening (especially planting vegetables), traveling and reading Tom Clancy books.

Dr. Haywood would like to dedicate this recognition to her husband Roger and her daughter Tresha for their continuing love and support. She would also like to dedicate her recognition to her mentor Dr. Vijaya Chellapilla who “has seen me through the good times and the bad”. She also gives thanks to Dr. Subba Rao who has provided constant guidance and to Dawne Buckmire and Peter Slinger for being so instrumental throughout her personal and career life.
