Ms. Evans has over fifty years of experience in the medical field. As a child growing up during World War II, she was inspired by the brave nurses who attended to wounded soldiers and citizens. She first worked as a nurse, and later the clinical supervisor for the medical-surgical unit, at Aultman Hospital. On account of her experience, she later became an educator, teaching the health occupations vocational program at Canton Local Schools.
In recognition of academic accomplishments, Ms. Evans earned a diploma at the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Years later, she pursued higher education, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, summa cum laude, at Mount Union College in 1978. Five years later, she earned a Master of Education, summa cum laude, at Kent State University. At the University of Akron, she completed postgraduate assignments.
Active in her community, Ms. Evans is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, National Education Association, Olito Vocational, ASSO, and College Club. She volunteers in the Dominican Republic on mission trips. Previously, she has taught patients and their families how to administer medication, free of charge. She will continue practicing acts of kindness after retirement.
Ms. Evans would like to dedicate this recognition to her grandfather Ernest Davies, who was a considerable inspiration for pursuing nursing as a profession, and her loving husband and friend Donald Evans, who has provided her unwavering support.
