Herbert H. Scherzer, M.D., is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as a Pulmonologist.
Dr. Scherzer has accrued more than forty-seven years of experience as a pulmonologist. His area of expertise includes critical care, sleep medicine, and diseases involving the respiratory tract. He is currently in the process of moving and will be starting a new position in the fall. The majority of his career has been spent working in medical schools and their affiliated hospitals. He has held numerous prestigious titles such as director of pulmonary section at the Hospital of Central Connecticut and director of sleep disorders at St. Francis Hospital. Renowned for his accomplishments, he prepared two of St. Francis’s facilities for certification as a full service sleep center.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Scherzer attended Albany Medical College where he earned a Doctorate of Medicine. Following this, he completed a two year residency in internal medicine at St. Francis Hospital. On account of his dedication and success, he was chosen to be chief resident.
He then trained at the University of Connecticut Medical School for a two year fellowship. Since, the American Board of Internal Medicine awarded him certification in pulmonary disease and the American Board of Sleep Medicine awarded him certification in sleep medicine.
A leader in the field of pulmonology, Dr. Scherzer is affiliated with the American Medical Association, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. On top of these accomplishments, Dr. Scherzer has leveraged his expertise as a writer in numerous publications and was awarded the Teacher Excellence Award.
Dr. Scherzer advises new physicians to remember, “Everyone is a person with their own concerns,” “Be humble,” and “Let your patients know what your expertise is.”
