James H. Hutchinson, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Mental Health as a Psychiatrist at his private practice.
Located in Westwood, the private practice of Dr. Hutchinson provides expert, caring psychiatric and neurological services to the greater Bethesda area. Backed by fifty years of experience, he is one of the best psychiatrists in Montgomery County. His area of expertise is psycho-social psychiatry, receiving board certification in psychiatry and neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Hutchinson’s fascinating family history led him towards a career in psychiatry. At the age of fourteen during World War II, his father became a radio operator and founded ground to satellite communication. He then secured a patent for it, inspiring Dr. Hutchinson to pursue a career that allowed him to be both a psycho-social psychiatrist and scientist. He advises future physicians to understand the need for professionals in his field. In addition to studying and treating mental illnesses, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Hutchinson attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, earning a Doctorate of Medicine. After medical school, he completed residencies in psychiatry at Sheppard Pratt Health System and Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital.
