Recognized as a top pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Schwartzstein has led an outstanding career in his field. He has devoted the past four years serving patients within Northwell Health at 600 Northern Boulevard, Suite 220. Demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and integrity, he offers a vast repertoire of extensive training and expertise in osteopathic medicine and pediatric medicine. Alongside his current position, he is affiliated with Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, and Syosset Hospital.
To prepare for his distinguished career, Dr. Schwartzstein completed his undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania University. His career began after he obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Soon thereafter, he completed an internship and residency at St. John’s Episcopal, where he also served as chief resident. He completed his extensive training with a fellowship at Lurie Children’s Hospital.
In order to stay up-to-date with the latest ophthalmology advancements, Dr. Schwartzstein maintains active memberships and affiliations with professional organizations including the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology, NY State Ophthalmology Society, American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Schwartzstein received awards and accolades throughout his career. He won 1st place and 2nd place for a poster competition in Osteopathic Ophthalmology, named Top Doctor, and inducted in the Fraternity Sigma Sigma Phi. As a respected voice in his field, Dr. Schwartzstein has contributed to articles and journal publications in his areas of expertise.
In his spare time, Dr. Schwartzstein enjoys spending time with his family, telling jokes with his kids, exercising, reading, and hiking. Dr. Schwartzstein dedicates this honorable recognition to Dr. Carol Shields.
