Lindsey Shirley, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Nurse Practitioner in the field of Cardiothoracic Surgery for her professional excellence in her new role with Emory University Hospital Midtown.

Situated at 550 Peachtree St NE, Emory University Hospital Midtown is a highly recognized full-service teaching hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive care and quality outcomes for patients and their families. The hospital is home to more than 1,200 Emory Clinic and 440 private-practice physicians spanning 28 specialties. From a 26-bed sanatorium to a tertiary care facility with more than 531 beds, Emory University Hospital Midtown prides itself on its rich heritage and more than 100 years of outstanding commitment.

Leading an impressive career at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Ms. Lindsey Shirley is a highly trained, board-certified Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery. She has been serving patients in her current position since April 2020. She has garnered a well-deserving reputation for her recognition by the International Nurses Association as a “Top Advanced Practice Registered Nurse” and by Today’s Nurse as a “Worldwide Leader in Healthcare.” Throughout her healthcare career, Ms. Shirley has gained valuable experience as a Registered Nurse with iResearch Atlanta, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with North Atlanta Dermatology, Nurses’ Aid with St. Mary’s Hospital Hospice House, and an Intern with Atlanta Falcons Physical Therapy Center.

To prepare for her promising career, Ms. Shirley completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia she obtained her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology in 2016 and then her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Emory University - Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in 2018, where she made the Dean’s List. A year later, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from the same institution, graduating from Emory’s MSN program with a 4.0 GPA. During her time at Emory, Ms. Shirley was the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Specialty Representative for the Emory Graduate Nursing Council. She also holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS - not intended for postnominal use). In light of her academic success, Ms. Shirley is a Lettie P. Whitehead Foundation scholarship recipient.

A respected voice in her field, Ms. Shirley is proud to have published her first academic article titled “Racial and Socioeconomic Disparities in the Presence of Acute Type A Aortic Dissections” in the Journal for Nurse Practitioners in February of 2020. She intends to publish an academic article at least once per year in the future.

Active in her field, Ms. Shirley maintains memberships and affiliations with professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the International Nurses Association.

Ms. Shirley dedicates this honorable recognition to Camille Brocket-Walker, DNP, AGACNP, and Jennifer Adamski, DNP, ACNP-BC. In her spare time, Ms. Shirley enjoys reading, cooking, and exercising.
