Elizabeth Nelson is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Education. Elizabeth is the Office Manager with TRIO Upward Bound. TRIO Upward Bound helps prepare high school students for college through tutoring, on campus experiences, colleges visit and help with applying to college. Upward Bound is a federally-funded, U.S. Department of Education equal educational opportunity program. The grant serves students enrolled at Minneapolis' Edison, North, and South high schools. TRiO Upward Bound at the University of Minnesota began working with students in 1966, and since 2001 has worked with approximately 100 students each year.
As Office Manager, Elizabeth works with TRIO in the realms of human resources, organizational development, document retention, audit reviews and more. Due to her knowledge in language interpretation and translation, Elizabeth strives to help those in need excel in the development in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language in areas such as their professional and personal development. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and in her spare time, enjoys volleyball, soccer, tutoring math and science, and building a network of well-equipped adults, teens, and children. Throughout her educational career, Elizabeth earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chicano Studies from the University of Minnesota, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Human Resource Development at the University of Minnesota.
