Jean Woods, DDS is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of General Dentistry as a result of her role as Owner and Dentist with Community Smiles.
Upon opening Community Smiles in April of 1993, Jean has owned and operated the practice for twenty years and her expertise is in general and cosmetic dentistry, veneers, oral surgery, periodontics, and restorative dentistry. Jean also has experience with endodontics, aesthetics, and process improvement. Her advice to those seeking a career in dentistry is to not be afraid, and that dentistry is slowly becoming a woman’s profession because women pay more attention to detail and have smaller hands, giving them the ability to work closer with patients. Jean says she is always on the cutting edge of medical technology, and stays up to date with all new information and techniques dental related. Furthermore, Jean is a member of the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Old North State Dental Society.
She was also the Membership Chairperson of the North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry for six years, as well as serving as Deputy Examiner for the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, of which she was the youngest person ever to serve. Aside from the demands of work, Jean enjoys horseback riding, snow skiing, traveling, as well as live music. Throughout her educational career, she earned her DDS, Dentistry from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from North Carolina Central University. In addition to her degrees, Jean also holds a certificate of Implant Surgery from Medical College of Georgia.
