Dr. Mary Margaret Brandt

 Dr. Mary Margaret Brandt, M.D., MHSA, FACS, FCCM, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Healthcare.

Dr. Brandt is the Medical Director of the Trauma Department at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor. Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is home to six hospitals, eight urgent care facilities, five outpatient health facilities, and an additional twenty five specialty centers. With nearly 3,000 physicians and 14,000 combined nurses and staff, St. Joseph Mercy Health System is a nationally recognized leader in healthcare. Board Certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Neurocritical Care, Dr. Brandt’s areas of concentration include: acute care surgery, surgical critical care, trauma, emergency medicine and neurocritical care. Dr. Brandt has over twenty five years of experience in healthcare.

Throughout the course of her illustrious career, she spent twenty one years as a Colonel in the Army Reserve before retiring and was deployed to three times; twice to Afghanistan and once to Baghdad. Furthermore, Dr. Brandt is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the College of Critical Care Medicine as well. Dr. Brandt is the four-time recipient of the Army Commendation Medal in addition to a GWOT Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Deployed Surgeon's Medal and AAST recognition. Aside from the demands of work, she enjoys historic preservation, German Shepherd dogs, growing roses and persian rugs.

 

Maintaining close ties with her community, Dr. Brandt sits on the board of the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra and the Highland Cemetery. Heavily educated in her field, Dr. Brandt received her Medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and underwent her General Surgery Residency at the University of New Mexico as well as her Critical Care Residency at the University of Rochester.
