Patty L. Flanagan, MSN, RN-BC, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Vascular Nursing.
Patty is a Veteran Nurse at Albany Medical Center. The only academic medical center in the region, Albany Medical Center is a 734-bed facility that is home to the Albany Medical College, a biomedical research enterprise and the region’s largest physicians practice with over 400 doctors. A seasoned nurse with nearly four decades of professional experience, Patty’s areas of concentration include cardiac vascular nursing and nursing education as well as public speaking and patient advocacy. She is dedicated to helping patients and the nurses who care for them. The specialty of vascular nursing includes a variety of conditions affecting the cardiovascular system including: thoracic and abdominal aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease, upper extremity arterial occlusive disease, mesenteric ischemia and renovascular disease.
The recipient of multiple industry related honors and recognitions, Patty is a member of the American Nurses Association, the International Nurses Association and the Society for Vascular Nursing. In addition, she maintains affiliation with and is the Chair of the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee and Director for the Society for Vascular Nursing as well as President elect for the Northeast Chapter for the Society for Vascular Nursing. Patty attributes her success to her family who supports her passion for nursing. Patty credits her vascular knowledge to the Center for Vascular Awareness, The Vascular Group, Linda Ward NP and one outstanding mentor, Deborah Guptil RN. Patty graduated from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute with her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education in addition to her RN and BSN Degrees from Maria College of Albany. Aside from the demands of work, Patty enjoys gardening and riding horses. She is also a certified riding instructor and co-owner of a riding stable in Greenfield, New York.
