Dr. Michelle B. Tarbox

Dr. Michelle B. Tarbox is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine. Dr. Tarbox is a Dermatologist and Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University.

Established in 1923, Texas Tech University is a four year public research university located in Lubbock, Texas. Offering a variety of graduate and undergraduate coursework throughout several colleges, the university is on its way to becoming one of the leading premier research institutions in the nation. Licensed to practice medicine in both Texas and Missouri, Dr. Tarbox’s areas of specialty include dermatology, dermatopathology, and medical instruction. She is affiliated with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatopathologists, Women’s Dermatologic Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Sigma Xi, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Phi Beta Kappa. She has been recognized nationally as a Doctor of Excellence and a Leader in Healthcare and was included in the 2014 Edition of Physicians Review for her exemplary patient care and leadership in her field.

Throughout the course of her productive career, Dr. Tarbox has spoken as a guest lecturer for the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, and the American Academy of Dermatology. She is also an active clinical researcher and currently has grants in place to study acne scarring treatments and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Tarbox has contributed significantly to the scientific literature through original research, case reports, review articles, book chapters, and an honors thesis. In addition to her clinical work and teaching, she works with the Women’s Dermatological Society where she offers free cancer screenings. She has also done numerous interviews for print journalism on a variety of topics from skin care to skin cancer prevention and does television interviews with local news media to provide public education about dermatologic concerns.

 

Dr. Tarbox also volunteers regularly at the Impact Health Free Clinic to care for those without medical insurance. She serves on her university’s Educational Policy Committee and the Faculty Research Committee. In her personal life, she is active with local musical theater and is the lead singer in a local rock band that performs regularly at local entertainment venues. Recognized by Doctors of Excellence, she obtained her Medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, graduating at the top of her class. She then completed her internship in internal medicine, her dermatology residency, and her dermatopathology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio where she was recognized for her extraordinary teaching abilities and her dedication to medical education. Following the completion of her training, she served as an assistant professor of Dermatology and Dermatopathology at St. Louis University where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2012. Dr. Tarbox joined the faculty of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in August 2013 and has been nominated for the Dean’s Clinical Teaching Award in 2015.
