Dr. Held is an Ophthalmologist at Stone Oak Ophthalmology. A full-service eye care practice, the physicians and staff at Stone Oak Ophthalmology help enhance vision and eye health for patients throughout the greater San Antonio area. A physician with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Held is a passionate ophthalmologist with over thirty years of industry experience. Specializing in all facets of ophthalmology, she has additional expertise seeing patients with cataracts and glaucoma; as well as performing various surgeries including LASIK eye surgery.

 Board certified in Ophthalmology, Dr. Held was honored with the 2016 Top Doctor Award. When asked about her career, Dr. Held says she views ophthalmology as “a wonderful combination of medicine and technology,” and having always loved math, optics and physics, she utilizes all three factors in her everyday work.

The author of several medical papers and related book chapters, Dr. Held’s advice to those entering the industry is “listen to your patients, be 100 percent devoted to your patients, be a perfectionist, be on the cutting edge of technology.” Taking her father’s advice, Dr. Held also states “there is no room for error.” Dr. Held graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio with her Medical degree. She then went on to pursue an Internship in Internal Medicine, followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
