Continental Who’s Who recognizes Mary A. Sumrall, B.S.N., R.N., as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the Nursing field.
contributions to the Nursing field.
With 48 years of service to the healthcare industry, Sumrall, now retired, brought both extensive professional and real life experience to her positions. Working in the Critical Care and Emergency sections of a hospital as well as healthcare administration, Sumrall utilized her expertise specifically in working with burn victims in all areas. Her resume includes successfully executed positions at Dameron Hospital in Stockton, CA, the Louisiana State University Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA, and the Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Beginning her career in 1977, Sumrall was inspired by her mother to enter the nursing field. However, she soon took her talents home to her daughter, Licia Lerindegui. Lerindegui was diagnosed with a serious medical condition which required—and still requires—Sumrall to attend Lerindegui’s extensive needs even in her retirement. Sumrall even shared her experiences caring for her daughter when she gave a lecture at California State University on the stress of having a special needs child. “I dedicate this recognition to my daughter,” Sumrall said. “Our abiding faith in Christ helped us through the tough times.” In spite of her busy work schedule prior to retirement as well as caring for her daughter, Sumrall acquired an impressive number of accolades over the course of her career.
She holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science and earned her Registered Nurse designation from California State University. Sumrall has also been interviewed by RN Magazine as well as Worldwide Leaders of Healthcare, and is a member of the International Nurse’s Association.
