William C. Rorick

William C. Rorick is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Fine Arts. Rorick’s professional title is Painter/Portrait in Private Practice. He “enjoys working in oil, pastel and drawing mediums to capture the likeness and essence of his subjects,” his bio reads. “His portraits hang in public and private collections across the United States,” and is “currently working on a series of oil portraits of famous composers and other historical figures of the late 19th and 20th centuries with the advice and assistance of well-known portrait artist Paul W. McCormack.”

In addition to working on his own artwork, Rorick teaches portrait painting and coordinates a portrait sketch group in his studio as part of the activities of the Portrait Club of Greater Southbury, which is affiliated with John Howard Sanden’s Portrait Clubs of America. He is also an Assistant Professor Emeritus of Music Library at Queens College. Rorick earned his Master’s degree in Music from Northwestern University. He also touts an extensive resume of art education, including the study of painting, drawing and sculpture at the New York Academy of Art; the Art Students League; the National Academy of Design; the School of Visual Arts; the Lyme Academy and numerous other institutions.

 To further his professional development, Rorick is a member of the following associations and organizations: Hudson Valley Art Association; Allied Artists of America; Connecticut Pastel Society; Pastel Society of America; Portrait Society of Atlanta; Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists; Audubon Artists; Academic Artists Association; Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden; Brush and Palette Club of New Haven; and the Hamden Art League. In addition to membership, Rorick serves or has served as an officer of the following associations and organizations: Connecticut Classic Arts – Publicity Chair, 1996-1999; Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists – Founding Member, 2002; Kent Art Association – Exhibitions Committee, 2003, Co-Chair Members Show, Selections and Awards Committee, Elected Artist Member, 2003, Board of Directors, 2003-2007; New York Society of Portrait Artists – Member and Leadership Team, 2002; and the Society of Creative Artists of Newtown – Artist Member, Board of Directors: Corresponding/ Membership, 1999-2002.

 

Rorick is the recipient of numerous Best in Show awards in local, regional and national art shows. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Art and other biographical sources.
