Joan Hill

Joan Hill is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional Member in the field of Art Education and Tourism. Hill is the director of Artful Journeys, LLC, an “annual arts education program, designed to teach new skills, widen horizons, and allow participants to experience art and culture of a region from an artist’s point of view,” according to its website. She has been organizing trips since 2000 and has held the title of Director of Artful Journeys for the past eight years. “I welcome people who are artfully inclined,” Hill said. “I know no one else who does exactly what I do.

I use ‘director’ on everything because I do everything here.” Artful Journeys’ programs center on trips to various destinations, notably Italy, France and in the United States, Cape Cod, Mass. Trip participants have the opportunity to experience hands-on activities or professional showcases and the culture particular to each region. They have a chance to take painting or cooking workshops, to name a few, and attend many concert venues, depending on the focus of the trip.

In a workshop setting, Hill brings professionals on board as teachers. “Teachers and artists are joined by a common thread: passion for their life and work, whether it be painting, music, sculpture, cooking, photography or wine,” the company website states. “Cultural tour sizes are usually small, as are the workshops, to provide a focused and intimate environment.” Throughout the course of her educational career, Hill graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Literature.

In addition to running Artful Journeys, she is also the owner of a successful bookkeeping business. To further her networking pursuits and professional development, Hill is a member of her local chamber of commerce as well as IWLA. She also is involved with both the Cape Symphony Orchestra Guild, with which she organizes trips, and is heavily involved with the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival. She hopes to expand the destinations of Artful Journeys to Arizona and Georgia in the near future. Hill dedicates this recognition to her parents, Crosby and Mary Wilkin.
