Roderick MacLeod is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Medical Education. Dr. MacLeod’s professional title is Conjoint Professor in Palliative Care Medicine at The Uinversity of Sydney – Northern Medical School. His expertise lies in the areas of academia, palliative care and chronic illness, and brings more than 30 years of combined field experience to his role. Previously, Dr. MacLod served as the Medical Director of Dorothy House Hospice near Bath, England.
He was appointed to his current role in 2012 by HammondCare, “as part of the organization’s commitment to providing outstanding end-of-life care.” Once in his role, “he has focused on the themes of cancer, healthy aging and palliative care as a means of supporting patients and families through their final transition,” he told 24-7PressRelease.com. In addition to his work in teaching and practice, Dr. MacLeod touts a resume of over 50 journal articles, book chapters and scholarly reviews written in the last ten years, including the Textbook of Palliative Medicine and First Do No Self-Harm: Understanding and Promoting Physician Stress Resilience, which was published in 2013. He also contributed to a research report published by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, also in 2013. Dr. MacLeod earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the University of Dundee.
He then went on to complete a Master’s degree in Medical Education, also from the University of Dundee, and a Ph.D. from the University of Glamorgan. To further his professional development, Dr. MacLeod is a Fellow of the Chapter of Palliative Care of the Royal Australasian College Physicians; a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners; a past member of the New Zealand Ministry of Health’s Palliative Care Advisory Group and was appointed as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in the field, Dr. MacLeod was awarded the Inaugural Lloyd Morgan Charitable Trust fellowship, and was included in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in the World.
