As President of GPS, Heiskell specializes in business development, consulting, placement and staffing services; as well as power generation, project engineering and much more. She claims that although her title is President, her job is really to, “enable and empower the people I work with.” Prior to being employed at GPS, Heiskell served as both Vice President, and President, to the Champlain Group, an engineering and solutions group affiliate with GATE Premier Solutions.
Heiskell reveres that, “I really enjoy what I am doing, and the challenges of a cyclical industry have expanded my capabilities and vision. To work and live fearlessly is exciting!” Regarding her past goals and pursuits, Heiskell says, “I have pursued work and play that interest me. I love to travel so I worked as a travel agent, I was fascinated by the creativity of the film and production industry so I went to school to learn about film and video production. I love to garden so I attended the Master Gardner program through the LSU Agriculture Center. I love the inspiration of living and love that the disabled community demonstrate. Special Olympics is an amazing experience and never gets old!”
Heiskell claims that her career experience has helped her to “think outside the box” more, and that her greatest professional inspiration stems from “women who do not waiver in the face of fierce adversity.” She adopted this attitude and inspiration from her mother, a person who persevered as a successful businesswoman and encouraged others through their own hardships. Additionally, Heiskell advises others to always be on the lookout for opportunities, work hard and most importantly, be fearless. Accepted into the Yale Global Executive Leadership Program for 2016-2017, Heiskell plans to be a full-time grandmother. Furthermore, Heiskell is an affiliate with NAPW, Bright Light Foundation and volunteers for Special Olympics. When she is not working, Heiskell enjoys golfing, gardening and painting.
In her earlier years, Heiskell studied at both the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and Benedictine University prior to completing the Harvard Business School Executive Education program in Negotiation and Leadership. She dedicates this recognition to her husband, Wesley Heiskell, and her family for all their love and support. She has three children: Rebecca, Thomas & Daniel, who passed away.
