Ruth Brill Gross, PhD, LPC

Ruth Brill Gross, Ph.D., LPC, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of Mental Health as a result of her role as Licensed Clinical Psychologist with West Virginia Weight and Wellness and Counseling Associates. Inspired to enter the field due to her love of service to people and biological science, Dr. Gross has been in the industry for the past fifty years where she has been nothing but successful.

In her earlier role with West Virginia Weight and Wellness and more recently with Counseling Associates, she works closely in the areas of assessment, rehabilitations, clinical psychology, counseling, psychotherapy, and neuropsychology with individuals, couples, families and more. Prior to her current positions, Dr. Gross has worked in a number of settings in the psychology profession and garnered incomparable experience working with individuals with substance and alcohol abuse issues as well as veterans suffering from PTSD, brain injury and related disorders.

Throughout the course of her illustrious career, Dr. Gross has also served as an Associate Professor at George Mason University, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati and she was previously employed as a counselor at West Virginia University and the Ohio State University Counseling Service. An especially important job was Dr. Gross’ service as Director of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit at the Martinsburg WV Veterans Administration Medical Center.

 

A member of the American Psychological Association, National Academy of Neuropsychology and the Sigma Xi Research Society, Dr. Gross is the author and co-author of several scholarly articles and three books. She was the first clinical psychology graduate from West Virginia University. She did post-doctoral training in neuropsychology at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Gross received both her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Biological Science.
