Continental Who’s Who recognizes Suzanne L. Velez-Perez as a Pinnacle Professional Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Healthcare and Administration. In her former role as Director of Rehabilitation at Beth Abraham Health Services, Velez-Perez utilized her expertise in gerontology. She served five years in her role in which she coordinated administrative and clinical responsibilities for the entire department.
“I supervised a staff of three physical therapists, two physical therapist assistants, two occupational therapists, three certified occupational therapist assistants, two speech language pathologists, one senior administrative secretary, one rehabilitation attendant and one wheelchair repair technician,” Velez-Perez said. “I [also] oversee and coordinate a student mentoring program consisting of ten students and two teachers.” Prior to joining the staff of Beth Abraham Health Services, Suzanne served on the staff at Tarrytown Hall Care Center, Grand Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, Workmen’s Circle MultiCare Center and for over 11 years at the Jack D. Weiler Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Gerontology and Bachelor of Sciences degree in Occupational Therapy from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has also been awarded membership to the American Occupational Therapy Association and the New York State Occupational Therapy Association. She was named to the VIP Women of the Year Circle by the National Association of Professional Women and supports the Medical Reserve Group, the USO and Vietnam Veterans of America. After 30+ years in providing direct care services in the healthcare arena, Suzanne is now employed by Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc in Virginia Beach, Virginia as Associate Director where she will be devoting her efforts to helping families and friends of alcoholics in the United States and Canada. When not working, Suzanne enjoys travel and participating in and assisting with local community events. She dedicates this recognition to her husband and children.
