Adrian Lee Butler, MD

Adrian Lee Butler, M.D. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Medicine. Amassing over 15 years of field within the industry, Dr. Butler specializes in orthopedic hand surgery, especially the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries. “Always do what is right for the patient,” Dr. Butler said when asked his professional philosophy. “Always have the patient’s best interest at heart.” To further his professional development, he is a member of the Ohio Orthopedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association for Surgery of the Hand and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Florida Orthopedic Society, Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Association, American Medical Association, and, finally, the Indiana University Juggling Club. Dr. Butler has also had numerous articles and case studies published with various publishers and Journals.

Additionally, he is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (2006), and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.

He is also Certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association, Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support, and in ‘Fundamentals of Critical Care Support’. Furthermore, Dr. Butler has passed multiple US Medical Licensing Examinations. Due to outstanding work in his field, Dr. Butler has won numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Some of these include the North Central Academic Excellence Award (1990, 92, 93), Boehringer Mannheim Outstanding Chemistry Graduate Scholarship (1993), Indiana University Residents Scholarship (1993-97), Golden Key Honor Society (Inducted 1994), Franklin T. Mathers, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society (Inducted 1996), R.J. Grim Memorial Scholarship (Summer 1996), Allegheny General Hospital Department of Orthopedics Research Award (2005 & 2006). Dr. Butler earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Indiana University, where he graduated with Honors, and minored in Mathematics and German in 1997.

Soon after, in 2001, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine before completing his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Allegheny General Hospital’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Additionally, he completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University at the Philadelphia Hand Center in 2007. When not working, Dr. Butler enjoys hiking, fishing and numerous other outdoor activities.
