Sydney B. Blake, PhD

Sydney B. Blake, Ph.D., is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the Medical field. Dr. Blake serves as a Pain Management Specialist at Fortanasce and Associates Neurology Center. She brings over 25 years of experience in her specialties of neurology and pain management to her role. “I have worked with a wide spectrum of individuals from children to seniors,” Dr. Blake said. “Currently, my practice is focused on the emotional and psychological issues associated with chronic pain, chronic illnesses, loss and aging. I work to treat chronic, sometimes disabling pain.”

Throughout the course of her education and training, Dr. Blake earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Immaculate Heart College. She then went on to complete her Master of Arts degree in Educational Philosophy from California State University, her Master of Science degree in Medical Technology Administration from California State University – Dominguez Hills and her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Technology from the University of Southern California.

Following receipt of all of her degrees, Dr. Blake completed an internship at the University of Southern California. Additionally, Dr. Blake has contributed to numerous medical journals and spoke on several panels. Some of her notable works include: The psychological effects of chronic illness, for Verdugo Hills Hospital, 1989; The psychological effects of Myasthenia Gravis, for the annual meeting of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 1995; Coping with chronic illness, a “televised panel discussion for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation,” 1996; and Teaching for statistical expertise, “paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association,” 1997. To further her professional development, Dr. Blake is a member of the International Association of Healthcare Professionals, for which she is a public speaker. Additionally, she is a member of the Sa Gabriel Valley Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. In recognition of her outstanding accomplishments in the field, Dr. Blake was named to Leading Physicians of the world. She attributes her success to her passion for the field, and to her humility throughout her career.

 

When not working, Dr. Blake enjoys reading, book clubs, movies and spending time with her friends and with family members.
