Frances Kathleen Lopez-Bushnell, FNP, EdD, M.S.N, M.P.H., B.S.N.,is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Nursing. University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH), the state’s only academic medical center, is the “primary teaching hospital for the university’s School of Medicine,” the hospital’s website states. “UNMN cares for a large, diverse population with complex and urgent health needs, providing more than $135 million of uncompensated care per year.”
Because it is the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Facility, the hospital is involved with thousands of cases ranging from over 491,000 outpatient visits to 93,000 emergency medical visits. As the Director of Nursing Research at the University of New Mexico Hospital, Bushnell brings over 47 years of experience to her role as an educator and utilizes her particular expertise as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Clinical Practice. Throughout the course of her educational career, Bushnell attained her Bachelor of Nursing Science degree from the University of New Mexico, her MSN and MPH from Yale University and her Ed.D. from Boston University.
She also provides primary care as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC. To further her professional development, Bushnell is a member of the American Nurses Association, the New Mexico Nurse Practitioner Association, the Western Institute of Nursing and the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurses Association and is a Board Member of the IRB Committee.
